Provincial Flags Legislation Passed

A piece of legislation introducing a set of ten beautiful new Matbaic flags was passed today, giving every province (not including Zatriarchal Colonies) a new flag.
Designed by His All Holiness the Zatriarch, the flag legislation includes descriptions of the symbolism behind each flag and ensures that new provinces automatically recieve a new flag of the same format.

Vichika retained, Tapfer gained

Thanks to Comrade Chairman St Fenix removing Kampong from the MCS map, the Zatriarchal Colony of Vichika in Eastern Micras remains lawful property of the Zatriarchate of Matbaa.
Likewise, after the annexation of Taesong by Riponia, the land gained by Matbaa from Taesong after the Taylor Bay War has also been retained, but it is believed that bilateral talks with Riponia will determine the status of Matbaa's possessions along the former Taesongese coast.
Further developments in cultural works in the Zatriarchate and the recent spree of legislation in the Matbaic National Khanaushia, (such as the autocratic Malleus Forge Act and the Political Organisations Restriction Act) the Zatriarchate is expanding the Zatriarchal Colony of Kefr Zeh further inland of the continent of Tapfer- now that Beaugian expansion has taken the South of Tapfer, there will be a mad rush to conquer the rest of the unclaimed interior of the continent.
Hopefully, however, Zatriarchal forces will capture the remaining unclaimed regions of Tapfer before Alexandrian, Beaugian, and Natopian forces do.

Economic Purge goes ahead as Zatriarchate reforms trade and economy

His All Holiness the Zatriarch followed the advice of economics minister Savme Barthkyomo this week by issuing an ultimatum to all inactive coimpanies and corporations operating within the Zatriarchate and her colonies.
As a result, several dead and inactive companies have been disbanded, including the Yaksmatch distillery, Huboyeh, Hoffmann, C&MRRC, and MatNet. It is believed that with a smaller number of privately owned companies, the Zatriarchate's economy will be easier to manage and will encourage more foreign investment.
Full-scale development into aeroplanes and small arms has reached an all time high in Intercorp Arms Manufacturers, which is destined to be the Matbaic company of 2007.

Status of ZC Vichika being debated

The status of the Zatriarchal Colony of Vichika, captured during the Taylor Bay RecWar, is being debated by Kampongese and Matbaic representatives in the Zatriarchate of Matbaa after Kampong claimed the newly conquered Matbaic colony.
Representatives for the Zatriarchate of Matbaa are Massoud Zakka Iwas, HG Earl Aster XIV, and HAH Zatriarch Maximillideus I.
Representatives for Kampong are HE Comrade Chairman St Fenix.
At the moment, a conclusion has not been reached, but Kampong has promised that it will allow Matbaa military rights and access to Vichika if it is given over to Kampong. The Zatriarchate has not yet stated its final intentions but the talks are going ahead at a fast pace, so a final settlement is believed to be reached in the near future.

Grand Vizier pledges to reform the Zatriarchate

As quoted from His Excellency the Grand Vizier's speech made around three days ago from his personal office to the people of the Zatriarchate:

Due to quite a few Private messages and worryings going on in Matbaa, I believe that it is time for the Office of Grand Vizier to begin to define its role in Matbaaic Affairs. As of the current the Zatriarch himself recently stated that, "the Office of Grand Vizier is out of date and almost useless as a position in Matbaa".
It is because of this that I believe that As the Newest in the line of Grand viziers of Matbaa that it is my duty to further define the line that the Grand Vizier walks.
My goals in order to help attain this will be the following:

To Push for formal legislation that defines the formal purpose and powers of the office of Grand Vizier.

To push for formal legislation that defines the formal purpose and powers of other offices, to allow the gaps between them to appear and to help us attempt to fill them.
To actively be involved in all Matbaaic discussion as well as legislative assemblies in order to actively participate.
To Push for a consolidation of the Aramic and other informational Institutes into a more solid Organisation for those new to Micronationliam. And to increase their prominance as Informational Organisations.
To Push for the Creation of a Matbaaic Consitution in which all areas of the Matbaaic Government are well defined and can be supplmented at a moments notice in order to allow normal decision making to occur at any level of activity.
To Activly Begin pushing for more works that recruit new citizens to the Nation, which at the moment has insured a slow down in all things Matbaaic...
To Push for Autocratic, Jingositic, and Harsh Military Legislation in order to allow the Matbaaic Military to Further Define itself in the role of a Superpower.

These Preceding actions being the ideals and works that I hope to carry out in the new
Autocratic and Theological Matbaaic Government.
They are the ideas that I feel will be the best idea in order to allow Matbaa to increase its role in Micrasian Affairs, to Fight on equal terms with any foe that may present itself, being internal or External. And to further define the fluidic line of rule that defines all Micronations such as Matbaa into a a proper line of advance, rather then retreat.

Intercorp releases small arms list!

Yesterday, Sfeir Afudyakno of Intercorp Inc, Matbaa's primary weapons manufacturer, finalized the intercorp small arms list, offering a range of firearms from heavy machine guns to assault rifles. Payment is accepted via both MX2 and the MRWS military payment scheme.
Minister Massoud Zakka Iwas is also finalizing a list of aeroplanes manufactured by the company, expected out some time soon.

Matbaic Zatriarchal Army Insignia and Hierarchy Act Passed

Yesterday, an overwhelming 100% vote in favour of the aforesaid act was cast by members of the Matbaic National Khanaushia. The legislation, proposed by His All Holiness the Zatriarch and revised by His Grace Earl Aster XIV, grants a new hierarchical system to the Matbaic Zatriarchal Army (From hereon known as the Matbaic Zatriarchal Defence Force) based on the Egyptian, Ottoman, and Syrian military hierarchies.
Epoulettes and other insignia for the army has also been designed for each rank, an example of which can be seen here.

Major Constitutional Reforms in debate

As part of a government scheme to implement tougher, more autocratic theocracy in the Zatriarchate, constitutional reforms are being debated in the National Khanaushia.
The legislation itself, proposed by His All Holiness the Zatriarch, would divide Matbaa's eleven provinces and two colonies into three Metripolitanates. Whereas the provinces themselves would still exist, they would be subdivisions of dioceses of the Matbaic Orthodox Church, which would mean that for the first time in Matbaic history, the internal development and general internal affairs of the Zatriarchate would be entirely managed by the clergy.
The system would be somewhat akin to Shireroth and Lemuria's legislative bodies, by which the leaders of the subdivisions would have a seat in the national Khanaushia.

Though of course, jobs in the foreign office and military would not be affected, each Metripolitan would have extensive powers for provincial development and a seat in the Khanaushia. The ministry of the interior would be probably be abolished, and replaced by an immigration office- all censuses would be taken by the government of the metripolitanate and then compiled into one grand census.Likewise, the WKG would still operate independently but the military would have one field marshal for each metripolitanate.

His Holiness went on to adress the Khanaushia and state that the new system would be less labour intensive than the one in current place, as it would use only around five active citizens to have all aspects of the Zatriarchate up and running.
He stated that although the Zatriarchate has become increasingly more nationalist, and some might say fascist, there is no reason to be afraid of implementing true theocratic principles designed to guard the Matbaic Orthodox faith and its morals.

It is expected that the reforms will take several weeks to legislate, so it will not be until January 2006 when they are fully implemented.

National Salute Act passed

A piece of legislation deemed by some as too nationalist reached assent to law on the 27th of November 2006 when the Matbaic National Khanaushia voted on the National Salute Act with a 75% favourable majority. The only lobby against the bill was Minister Hiram Jbarta, who stated that the new legislation was not dislike something out of 1930s Germany.
Though an earlier version of the legislation made the national salute's use compulsory, only government officials are obliged by law to use it, though its use is expected of everyone in important state functions and national holidays. However, since Dzez Matbaa is itself a government publication, use of the national salute is expected here, so...

National Symbols Act Passed!

Matbaa and CIS sign treaty of alliance

Treaty of Alliance between the Confederacy of Independent States and the Zatriarchate of Matbaa

7th November 2006- (finally ratified on 20/11/2006 by both parties)

The Confederacy of Independent States and the Zatriarchate of Matbaa,
Desirous of ratifying a Strategic Alliance between the two powers; Have agreed as follows:

Article 1

The Parties undertake to settle any international dispute in which they may be involved by peaceful means in such a manner that international peace and security and justice are not endangered.

Article 2

The Parties will contribute toward the further development of peaceful and friendly international relations by strengthening their free institutions, by bringing about a better understanding of the principles upon which these institutions are founded, and by promoting conditions of stability and well being. They will seek to eliminate conflict in their international economic policies and will encourage economic collaboration between any or all of them.

Article 3

In order to more effectively achieve the objectives of this Treaty, the Parties, separately and jointly, by means of continuous and effective self-help and mutual aid, will maintain and develop their individual and collective capacity to resist armed attack.

Article 4

The Parties will consult together whenever, in the opinion of any of them, the territorial integrity, political independence or security of any of the Parties is threatened.

Article 5

The Parties agree that an armed attack against one or more of them shall be considered an attack against them all and consequently they agree that, if such an armed attack occurs, each of them, in exercise of the right of individual or collective self-defense, will assist the Party or Parties so attacked by taking forthwith, individually and in concert with the other Parties, such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of Micras.

Article 6

For the purpose of Article 5, an armed attack on one or more of the Parties is deemed to include an armed attack on the territory of any of the Parties on Micran Soil, and/or on the various installations, forces, vessels, aircraft or spacecraft of any of the Parties, when in or over these territories or in orbit of Micras or in the vicinity of the Micran Home System.

Article 7

Each Party declares that none of the international engagements now in force between it and any other of the Parties or any third State is in conflict with the provisions of this Treaty, and undertakes not to enter into any international engagement in conflict with this Treaty.

Article 8

The Parties hereby agree to maintain diplomatic consultation with oneanother by appointing a Representative to maintain contact (thus in total there shall be 2 Representatives). These Representatives shall be charged with representing their respective Party in relation to the other Party and shall be the sole legitimate source in any negotiations, save for that of the respective Party leaders. Said leaders reserve the right to appoint, revoke, or otherwise overrule their respective Representative in all matters.

Article 9

This Treaty shall be ratified and its provisions carried out by the Parties in accordance with their respective constitutional processes

Recently, the manager of the Matbaa Tavalourian F1 Circuit and President of the Republic of Taesong, Mr Chi Tuong, stated that in an effort to get the micronational formula one hobby up and running again, he would start a new race in Matbaa's very own Tavalourian Circuit, just outside the capital city!

As he posted on the Matbaic fora over the last weekend:

Well, it's time to bring this track back to life and starting with the Matbaa 100KM, which is 18 laps round the track. It will be visible on MicraSport, but any Matbaic Broadcaster may contact me to broadcast it!Basically it's going to be small Formula 3-style V8 cars racing to be competing for one of micronational motorsport's most prestigious awards: the all new Matbaa 10KM. There will be overall 22 cars, 11 of which will be Matbaic, the rest from all over the world.The high speed straights with the very unforgiving corners from quick little kinks to hairpins, This is a Grand Prix to watch!!!!

New Issue Matbaic Salars Released

As per article 2.1 of the Currency Reform Act, passed by the Matbaic National Khanaushia three weeks ago, new banknote denominations have started circulation within the Zatriarchate.
Banknotes of 5 and 10 Salars operate alongside older issues from 2005, which shall be phased out gradually as their denominations are replaced with new issues. Commemerative coins are also being minted for the event, though this news source doubts that they will be in circulation before the end of this November.
Minister Savme Barthkyomo hailed this as a revolutionary step to getting the Zatriarchate's economy to where it should be.

Well, my friends.
I've thought long and hard about this.
I've resolved, thanks to your help and judgement, that I shall stay as Zatriarch- but I will also have one other micronational citizenship to help me learn about what it is to be a minion, as the Shahanshah so rightly said. Maybe with some time on the other side on the fence I can become a better leader. You know what they say- once you get into micronationalism, you will never come out. That's certainly true with me, due to my interests in the hobby. If I were to leave, I'd just come back again, I suppose I will try and make Matbaa fun for me again.

ZAR Disband Act Passed

Article 1
1.0 This act maybe cited as the Zatriarchal Autonomous Region Disband act of 2006
1.1 This act is signed into law upon the event of a favourable vote on it by members of the Matbaic National Khanaushia
1.2 This piece of legislation is to be written in accordance with the Legislation Standards Act of 2006.

Article 2
2.0 From the date of this legislation’s assent to law, all Zatriarchal Autonomous Regions (ZARs) within the Zatriarchate of Matbaa are hereby demoted to province status.
2.1 All leaders of Zatriarchal Autonomous Regions may retain their title but in practice become only provincial governors.
2.2 All autonomous government bodies within the ZAR Regions in question are hereby demoted to provincial administrative bodies directly controlled from the regional assembly of the new province.
2.3 No new Zatriarchal Autonomous Regions are to be created.

Under the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Suryo, it represents a great friendship between the two nations, now growing colonial masters of Micras.

Late October Update!

Well, here we are.
Rather a bit of news, but since it's the H.H Zatriarch posting this, who's not had internet access for a week and a bit, there may be a few errors in current events. Feel free to point them out.
Firstly, Matbaa has gained Vichika, you know that, but, as the Nova English would like us to stress, not via military force. The Nova Englishmen gave it to us out of the kindness of their hearts. Awww.
And look! It's got a nice shiny flag too! We expect that Vichika will mainly be used for military stationing for Matbaa and the NAM, and whilst I'm on the subject of the military, something interesting is afoot in the Khanaushia.
Even though the Nuclear Armament Bill put forward by Aster failed, we're replacing the nuclear warheads with EXOCET MM30 missiles! They'll be laughs in the next naval warfare!
Also, an act to disband the ZARs (Zatriarchal Autonomous Regions) and demote them to normal provinces is underway. The Oromoykhans certainly won't be pleased, but then again, it's up to Khan Savme to argue their cause in the Khanaushia. The poor dears.
Also, If you think His All Holiness wasn't doing anything for his nation over half term, think again! On the contrary, my droogs.

Currency Reform Act Passed

As signed to law by members of the Matbaic National Khanaushia on 23/10/2006:

Article 1
1.0 This act is henceforth to be known as the Currency Reform Act of 2006
1.1 This legislation is signed into law only when it recieves a majority vote by the Khanaushia in accordance with the Legislation Standards Act of 2006

Article 2
2.0 The currency known as the Matbaic Salar is hereby reformed.
2.1 New banknotes and coins are to be designed in the denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, and 500 Salars.
2.2 For two months after the assent of this bill, the old Matbaic Salar banknotes and Matbaic New Salar banknotes will both be legal tender.
2.3 After two months after the assent of this bill, the old Matbaic Salar banknotes will cease to be legal tender and only the Matbaic New Salar banknotes will be.
2.4 The aforesaid new banknotes are to be exhibited in MatbaaWiki and links put up in the nation's MX2 page.

Article 3
3.0This legislation also confirms that MX2 is the only legitamate source of monetary transfer whether internally or externally for the Zatriarchate of Matbaa and her dependencies.

Taylor Bay War ends- and aids Matbaic Colonialism!

Alas, the Taylor Bay War has drawn to a close. And not much action, neither. (Unless you're a resident of the Collins Islands, that is!) The war hasn't brought much in terms of action or fun for the NAM peacekeeping forces, but the glorious soldiers of Natopia, Matbaa, Antica, and Riponia haven't gone home empty handed- oh no! Thanks to Matbaic pressure on the Nova English forces on the Westernmost Island, the NAM and Matbaa have been allowed to retain the former Kampongese town of Vichika as a Matbaic/NAM naval base. Thanks to the Stormarkians for letting us use their territory to launch invasions from, but now we have our own land in the East! Yaay! Building of docks shall commence immediately, but Matbaic troops have remained in Vichika to see that the Nova English uphold their end of the bargain.
Likewise, though Operation Plastic Egg, in which Matbaa invaded Taesong, failed, President Hieu has granted the Matbaics permission to have another Naval Base, between the cities of Seongchen and Qui Nhon. Delicious.
Incidentally, Monovia also wants to join the NAM! w00t! w00t! w00t!

Synodical Order #004- Banning of Omism in Matbaa is hereby ratified and put into working practice.

Its provisions are such that:

1. The Zatriarchate of Matbaa hereby imposes a ban on any Matbaic nationals practising or endorsing the Omist faith in the Zatriarchate and her colonies.

2. The Matbaic Orthodox Clergy hereby support this ban, for the reasons that the Omist faith has been threatening the spread of Matbaic Orthodoxy.

3. Any individual found practising Omism may be prosecuted as per this synodical order

4. Omist temples may only be constructed within embassy compounds- Matbaic citizens may not use them.

5. Private worship and owning and or selling objects related to the Omist faith is liable to prosecution.

6. This synodical order in no way reflects the opinions of the Matbaic Government toward the New-Empire or any nations which follow the omist faith, merely its attitude towards worshippers.

Over several weeks now, I have personally become interested in the latest development on Giess, which is Paulovia's attempted subjugation and invasion of the Anthelian nation, a Sovereign micronation which has for some weeks now been considering becoming part of the Royal Kingdom of Gotzborg due to low activity and lack of interest amongst many of its citizens.From sources such as the Gotzborg fora and various micronational news blogs, I regret to state that I personally condemn the actions taken by Paulovia against Anthelia and its agressive and expansionist attitude. Though this statement does in no way echo the official sentiments of the Matbaic National Khanaushia to my knowledge, as a NAM member nation I feel we need to make a statement about the attitude the Kingdom of Paulovia has been employing toward its neighbours. Establishment of the Oros Protectorate, for instance, was backed up by a statement insinuating that any smaller nations who claimed would immediately destabilise the region- a claim which in itself represents a manner contrary to those of us in the NAM would like to see employed in the Anglophone Micronational Sector as a whole.And so I say to you- remember, Paulovians, you were once a young, vulnerable nation as well.

General Update

Good day all, and here we have a small update on events on Micras (and Giess) from the good people at Dzez Matbaa.
In the last few weeks we've seen Shireroth, under Kaiseress Carol I, crumble and very nearly die, and from what we hear the Landsraad is making a resolution to join Antica. *Gasp!*
Yes, we're as shocked as you all are, but there you go. And as much as we Matbaics love our glorious NAM allies, we urge you Shirereithans to keep going! Besides, that's not to say you won't be cosy under the Antican wing, but Shireroth has been going so long and we'd hate to see you go. Not that Matbaa ever got to sign a treaty with you guys, but there you go.

In other news, the NAM forces have secured territories on most of the 3 Taylor Bay Islands, carefully helping the Nova English and Kampongese to part with their weapons and letting the New Brittanians and Lovelians battle it out whilst we grow fat on the spoils of war. HA!
Our glorious soldiers of mother Assyria have secured all of the Westernmost Island. Hopefully we can add it to the Matbaic lands soon enough.

Intercorp Inc has also been sold! To good Matbaics Massoud Zakka Iwas and Sfeir Afudyakno- sorry Guy and Ninetyone Corporation. They've also put a new plane, the Nemro A1, into production, which is... nice.

As part of the nation's fictional history project, all the 103 Zatriarchs are having biographies written about them (around 30 done so far) and Aster has done a wonderful account of the fictional battle of Khalkhin Bataar, in which HH Zatriarch Sfeir VII was killed. Read it in MatbaaWiki if you wish.

Princess Beatrice of Monovia is currently visiting Matbaa, the government is debating a new currency, the Mns (Matbaic New Salar) and mucho legislation is being debated. The White Knight Guard drunk conference has still not reached a conclusion, and speaking of knights, if any of you see a user called Black_Knight on your fora, you'd better block him fast ;)

Operation Plastic Egg fails due to bad planning

A large scale invasion of Taesong took place several days ago as 800 White Knight Guard stormed and took over the city of Qui Nhon. Likewise, an air raid of Seongchen took place and Matbaic troops quickly occupied the two cities. It was believed at the time that the Republic of Taesong was under the leadership of a rebel communist government, which it was the Matbaic Zatriarchal Army's misison to depose and reinstate Hieu Chi-Tuong as President of Taesong. However, the planning of the mission, known as Operation Plastic Egg, bad planning led to misinformation, and the attack took place just as the legitamate government regained power. Farming yield reaches an all time high!

In recent months, the Matbaic agricultral ministry has reported bumper crops in regions such as Winchalar, Suroyo and Rashid! This is mainly due to the fast growth of the Matbaic economy in recent years since the Circum-Raynor war, and this has enabled an increasing amount of farmers to use more modern kinds of technology on their farms. Kefr Zeh is also a major contributor to this rise in crop yield, as cheap machinery and goods can be shipped from the port for use on Matbaic farms.
"If this trend continues" said Mrs. Yougo Havalan of the Matbaic agricultral ministries' statistics department, "No Matbaic will have to tighten their belt for a few years!"

Matbaic Forces begin peacekeeping mission

Matbaic Forces landed yesterday on the Westernmost Island in Taylor Bay, Micras. They began by reinforcing the Kampongese Village of Vichika with the famous Black Janissaries regiment and have installed artillery pieces in the hills and forests overlooking the village and surrounding area. A bridge linking two peninsulae on the island has been captured and charges set in place, along with roadblocks. Any military movements between the Kampongese and Nova English villages on the island which use the bridge are to be turned back in part of the Zatriarchate's mission to sustain fair play and prevent atrocities.
The Lovelian and Matbaic fleets are caught in a standstill as both train their guns on one another. The Matbaic Khanaushia and Ecumenical Synod have comprised a letter to the Lovelian forces requesting that they retreat, as the Matbaic Navy means no harm to them. Meanwhile, the Zatriarchate's glorious NAM allies are headed for New Brannum, Antica, to begin their operations.

Today, at around 2:30 pm, His Grace the Earl of Aster took up the daunting job of the nations' first colonial governor. The newly founded colony of Kefr Zeh, the first step in a string of Matbaic colonies, has begun a racing start as what his grace calls "The little Singapore of Matbaa" Due to its status as an important trading station and naval base. The colony has only been around for about a few weeks, but has begun to make a dramatic affect on Matbaic commerce and naval power. The colony contains the main island and city, Kefr Zeh, but, like singapore contains a heavily forested land strip filled with clusters of small native villages that lead to the island. His grace has already begun to make changes to the colony, and will enjoy his new post.

Rashid Natural Beauty Preservation fund started

Today, His Grace the Earl of Aster undertook to create a fund for the preservation for the natural beauty of Rashid. The province, Rashid is a heavily wooded a quiet province, situated on Matbaas' western seaboard. This almost forgotten province is not going to be able to stay a backpackers' paradise for long without some significant funding. The Government funds are getting through, but only just. Earl Aster has currently donated 1000 Matbaic salars from his own coffers and has managed to get additional funds of around 2670 Matbaic salars from various citizens in Matbaa city. The lord chamberlain hopes that 7000 can be raised by the end of the week.

We have often asked ourselves why we should explore off Micras whilst so much of our planet remains unexplored- most of it beneath the waves. So here, the Zatriarchate of Matbaa's Gamaskhurion Research Institute, coupled with the government-run Bsmayah Shipyards, present to you the ZMNS Aamiqo Nuno (http://matbaa.wikispaces.com/ZMNS+Aamiqo+Nuno), our first deep sea exploration vessel. It will travel to the centre of the Cibola Sea, (accompanied by a destroyer escort) where we believe there to be a deep sea fault, due to signs of sulphur from underwater volcanoes on the ocean floor. The Aamiqo Nuno (literally meaning [i]deep swimmer[/i]) in Syriac, will travel 2.5 kilometres below the ocean surface and will use cameras to report back on the sea life below. The first expedition is due to start on Saturday 16th.

Shaya Iwas/ McQueeny ordained as Metripolitan of Cihangak

Mr Philoxenos Shaya Iwas, otherwise known as Christopher Demetrios McQueeny, has been ordained by H.H Zatriarch Mar Maximillideus I in the Cathedral of St Tavalouris as Metripolitan of Cihangak Diocese. In an interview the new Metripolitan, who suceeded from Meferyono Saliba, stated that among his aims in Matbaa were to help build up the church and to fully implement a proper theocratic system of government in the Zatriarchate. He is also helping the Zatriarch and His Excellency Governor Afudyakno to fully catalogue all the past 103 Matbaic Orthodox Zatriarchs on the government website MatbaaWiki.

Vote of no confidence: Grand Vizier Gruzios Amarra

Until then, the only enemy participant was Behmanesh FarzAn, a Babkhan heretic otherwise known as Benjamin Gray, and King Jeremy I of New Brittania, who left with most of the Matbaic Zatriarchal Airforce after him. Ardashir Khan began by killing a monk in Matbaa's monastery of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes, then sticking an insulting poster to the church wall. The Zatriarch and the Matbaic participants are currently taking steps to eradicate the Babkhan side.

Many Matbaics feel that becoming a member of the NAM would help build up on growing friendly relations with Natopia and Antica. Since fighting for the UCS, a nation to small to defend itself, in the Circum-Reynor War, Matbaa has lived up to what the NAM charter is all about.
The Zatriarchate shall be formally integrated into the movement next weekend in an official ceremony in the Sovereign Natopian Empire.

Matbaa to stay on MCS

The Matbaic National Khanaushia yesterday finalised its decision to remain on the MCS map, for cultural and political reasons. Matbaics feel that moving to a new organisation would take too much time and energy, and the nation is, as Rasmussen would have said, an 'L-type' one, meaning that it focuses on the development of culture above all else. As such, the Zatriarchate is attached to its land and will not give it up. Having land on two maps was also voted against by Khanaushia members.
To all GSO member states, the Zatriarchate will continue to maintain foreign relations and international trade. We wish them, and their society, all the best for the future.

His Majesty Grand Duke Kieran I of Kahbah visited the Zatriarchate yesterday in what was to be his last contact with the micronational world. He granted ownership of the Grand Duchy of Kahbah to the Zatriarchate of Matbaa, and stated that he left micronationalism for personal reasons, but that while he was a member of the hobby, he enjoyed himself and thanked all micronationalists he met, including the Lovely Sector, the CIS, Monovia, and Matbaa for it. His Holiness the Zatriarch and His Grace the Earl of Aster responded first, stating their disappointment in the Grand Duke's leaving micronationalism, but their respect for what he accomplished in such a short time. Kahbah was always one of Matbaa's greatest friends, and along with Monovia, made up the three ex-CIS nations who made their fortune after leaving the Confederacy. Though it is now obvious that the Zatriarchal government will not pursue ownership of the Grand Duchy, they may put in an application for its preservation in the Apollo Foundation and commemorate it in the ZMMCF Micronational Graveyard.

Safyo Memorial Day

On August 7th, 2006, the Zatriarchate of Matbaa commemorated Safyo Memorial Day, a national holiday dedicated to those who were killed in the Assyrian Genocide, or Safyo. The Matbaic nation held a two minutes' silence and the Matbaic Orthodox Church conducted a service to remember the 650,000 victims of the horrific genocide. As the Aramaic nation of Micras, the Zatriarchate sees fit to commemorate macronational Syriac events such as this one.

Big steps in bringing the Church of Stormark and the Matbaic Orthodox Church closer together were taken in past weeks by His Holiness Pope Camillus I of Stormark and His Holiness Zatriarch Maximillideus I of Matbaa as a religious-cultural exchange has taken place. The meetings between the two religious leaders were conducted in the Matbaic Orthodox Ecumenical Synod, and resulted in great friendship between the two churches. Due to recent diplomatic events such as the Circum-Reynor War, the Zatriarchate of Matbaa has, some say, become increasingly nationalist and patriotic as its citizens begin a slow decline in communication with many Micran nations. His All Holiness the Zatriarch stated after the Circum-Reynor War that he believed that it had blackened Matbaa's good reputation across Micras. Several proposals in the Khanaushia, such as one vastly increasing the powers of the White Knight Guard in Military affairs, further illustrate this.
Although Matbaa has often been a cosmopolitan nation, seeing visits from Kampongese, Stormarkian, New Brittanian, Nova English, and CIS citizens almost daily, it seems that its plans to interact well with its Cibolan neighbours have failed miserably. Tensions between Alexandria are not in the least showing signs of military action, but there has been almost no contact between the two nations since land disputes in late spring of 2006. With the demise of Fergustein and the loss of President Seperatist from the CIS in Micronationalism, Matbaa will have to work on building up its Foreign Relations in the next few months. For those of you who do not know, the The White Knight Guard are Matbaa's Crack military regiment of immense influence and power. Currently residing in Jacob Mar Wardo Fortress in the Kasdim Province; they are widely used and can often be seen in pairs patrolling the streets of some large cities. They are historically based on the Knights Templar. They are split into 12 divisions, each with a Senechal in command with a Division Champion as 2nd officer. The Senechal of the 1st Division is the head of the entire Order, being the Supreme Templar Marshal, or Grand Master. White Knight Guard can often be recongnized by the large white robes that they wear, their heavy body armour, assault rifles and large swords.
Mostly, White Knight Guard are infantry, but occasionally there are some gunships and mechanized infantry. They are tactically used as elite infantry, covert operations, special operations and assasinations. An ordinary knight is trained in marksmanship, swordfighting, heavy weapons operations, vehicle operations, saboratage, unarmed combat, assasination, inflitration, dealing with multiple attacks and covert operations.

His Grace the Earl of Aster is especially pleased to have such a prominent micronationalist as a subordinate, and believes that he will help the order tenfold.

Didymaion Museum open!

The museum is called the "Didymaion" because of the egg and dart molding in its ceilings taken directly from the temple of Apollo at Didyma. The Museum for now only holds classical artifacts from civilizations such as the Roman Empire, the Roman Republic, The Greek city states and Ptolemaic Egypt. The pride of the museum is its almost complete suit of Roman auxiliary armour from Trajan's expedition into Armenia from around 115 AD. The museum as now only holds a small amount of permanent exhibits, but has a large amount of temporary exhibitions from other museums. UCS gains independance

Today the citizens had a referendum to deside wether they should be reunited as an independant state after popular demand required it. The vote came out unanmously for independance from both Matbaa and New Brittania (the current king will of course remain.)As the news of the referendum reached the crowds in the streets of UCS city a huge cheer went up as the people went to work on the walls that devided their lands with axes and picks. The New Brittanian and Matbaic troops simply stood looking dazed as the people of UCS began to dance ontop of the UCS wall as sections of it came crashing down. People ran through the gaps and began to hug each other through joy at their independance. Fireworks lit up the sky over UCS as bonfires were lit in the streets. Passengers in passing cars leaned out of the open windows waving the UCS flag and cheering to the Jubilant crowds. At UCS airport the Kings plane touched down as the crowds began to move to the palace which was inbetween the two zone. After a short car trip and climbing some stairs the King emerged onto the palace balcony to a roar of cheers and a chorus of "land of hope and glory." After a few moments the King lifted his hand and all eyes moved to the Matbaic and New Brittanian admin buildings which flanked the palace. As the royal hand was lowered the Matbaic and New Brittanian flags atop the buildings were lowered in time and the UCS flag raised in their places.The New Brittanian troops boarded ships to head home as the Matbaic troops began to march north. Singing continued outside the palace as the King waved, soon the roar of engines was heard as the returning UCS bombers from the late war flew over the crowds as part of a fly past. Search lights lit up the planes as they opened their bomb bays and tons of poppy petals fell down onto the crowd who raised their hands to catch the petals.The partys accross UCS continued all through the night and were still going on as the sun rose over a newly independant UCS. Links with Matbaa and New Brittanian were not to be broken completely however, it is hoped that both nations will continue to work with UCS for a brighter future.

A military parade and church service for the nation added to the joyous atmosphere, and the Zatriarch made a speech, which is as follows:

It is my pleasure to be with you this afternoon on the celebration of the six month anniversary of our nation, the Zatriarchate of Matbaa. This is the turning point for a nation in terms of growth- already we have seen five new citizens in the last two months, and we are now without a doubt more active than many of the nations which were superpowers when we first came to Micras. We are already witnessing a new era in micras, in which the old superpowers are dying, and micras is now led by the Cibolan, Novasolum, and Non Aligned Nations. From the beginning, when it was just Savme, Aster, Gruzios, and I, we have grown exponentially, with a fully working powerful economy, MCS land, and nine loyal, active citizens. We’ve managed to bring Syriac culture to Micras and have taken over Babkha as the leading Middle Eastern themed micronation. On a personal note, micronationalism is now one of my favourite hobbies, and despite all the difficulties I’ve had in creating this nation and getting active citizens, this hobby is very fun and we have every intention to continue going along the same route we have been in the last few months. Thank you too all those nations who have helped build Matbaa into the strong, recognised nation it is today, especially Middle Korea, Paulovia, Riponia, Gotzborg, Nova England, and the Confederacy of Independent States, all of whom have helped Matbaa militarily, economically, and generally been great friends to us in difficult times. We also gather here today to celebrate the end of the Circum-Raynor War and remember those whose lives were lost on both sides of the conflict. Matbaa to host F1 of Micronations

Former President Hieu Chi Tuong of the Republic of Chi-Nam has helped fund and designed the new Matbaic Formula 1 circuit, the Matbaa Tavalourian Autodrome, which will be located 7 miles north of Matbaa city. It will host the second F1 of micronations race (New Britannia's Willow circuit having hosted the first) and is sponsored by companies from T'aishen, Chi-Nam, and Matbaa. Nations expected to participate include Gosling, New Oscland, Nova England, and the New Empire. F1 of micronations was started as an enterprise of TiVi2, the Taishen broadcasting company which currently operates in the Dynastic Barony of Oscarithia, among other nations.

As such, the races will be broadcasted by TiVi2. Matbaa is expected to gain much tourism from this venture, and tramlines and increased public transport has been made to cope with the large number of spectators expected to attend. The track will be used after the races perhaps for other F1 of micronations events, Matbaic Regional Championship Races, or for the older Formula Z Micronational Racing Association, which operates in Istvanistan and Gotzborg as well as Aerlig and many other older nations. The track is somewhat unusual, as it contains real grass verges, which will add to the unpredictable element of what the weather will be like in time for the races. Advertising boards are also for sale, and cost between 5-15 Salars each to advertise for the duration of the races. To see the practice session held in the Willow F1 track, download it here. Matbaa has entered the driver Zakkai Yaqut in the race. He is currently training in the track for the main race, whose date still strangely remains a mystery to the general public.
There have, however, been a few sneak previews, such as this image depicting Zakkai Yaqut in training at Matbaa Tavalourian Autodrome. Advertised behind him are Hadji Mehmet's Coffee Houses and TiVi2 Broadcasting.
The races should be very popular- 75 Million T'aishen Dongs have been invested in its construction, so a huge profit is bound to be made by spectators. All Matbaics wish Zakkai the best of luck in the races. May god be with him.

Workers Rejoice as Workers' Union is founded!

The Matbaic worker's union has now been founded, with branches in most provincial capitals of the nation. There is yet to be a spokesman for the union, and a board of inquiry for cases must be set up, but this is the first step in the long road to bettering Matbaa's economy and industry.

Nova England and the Corporation Recognised

Matbaa's withdrawal from the CIS has culminated in many other former confederate nations approaching the Matbaic foreign office for treaties. Matbaa has now signed treaties of mutual recognition and non-agression with Kahbah, Monovia, and Nova England. The treaty with the latter was signed recently, and it is surprising how nations between whom spying was a common occurrance can now live in peace, side by side. Nova England has also helped Matbaa in development of its military, and King Joseph is often an honoured guest in the nation.

The dynamic, new nation of the corporation, the corporatic nation founded just under a month ago, also signed a treaty and trade agreements with the Zatriarchate. Zatriarch Maximillideus I and V.C Vehendi agreed to open up businesses such as the Bundadu Stock Exchange and the Corporation itself in Matbaa, and transactions between the two nations took off immediately. Foreign investment and trade is bound to grow now that Matbaa communicates regularly with a corporatic micronation!

Kahbah Beats Bird Flu

After leaving the CIS, Kahbah, Monovia, and Matbaa have cemented a very valuable friendship, and when an epidemic of Bird Flu broke out in northern Kahbah, Gosling and the other CIS members rushed to its aid, bringing medical supplies and helping to secure the quarantined region. Many were evacuated, and brought to Gosling and other confederate nations to be housed and fed until the area became safe again. Under the jurisduction of Earl Aster, Matbaic Captain of the White Knight Guard, ships were sent from Beth Sanaar and Bsmayah harbour to help with the rescue operation. There are currently over 100 Kahbahic nationals in Matbaa due to be brought back to their homes, which now are safe from the threat of this most dangerous virus.
Grand Duke Kieran II of Kahbah stated his gratitude and called Matbaa 'Kahbah's best friend'.
We all hope that this good relationship between the two nations continues, and that after a nuclear attack and a bird flu outbreak, Kahbah can recover and flower into the great nation it will inevitably be.

Hassan Bey Mosque Refurbished

Thanks to funding raised by the Muslim Council of Matbaa, Matbaa city's major mosque, the Hassan Bey, is now standing proud and stands as a monument to all Muslims across the growing Micronation. Until a few weeks ago, it was but a sorry hulk of a building, but now has been totally repaired. An imam has yet to be found, but many of the funds were taken from the Matbaic Orthodox Church's treasury, to help the Muslim-Christian friendship which is such a necessity in the world today. The first prayers are to be held on friday at midday, and Muslims will be interviewed on Matbaic Radio giving their opinions on the mosque's refurbishment.

Hadji Mehmet's Menu Now Online

After a long wait, the official Hadji Mehmet's menu has been made public and introduced to all the coffee house's brances. The new menu contains a wide range of Savoury and Sweet dishes, and a wide range of teas and coffees for very reasonable prices.
The tab system is now also fully functional, meaning that customers leave the prices of their drinks and meals on the tab, and it is paid by the MX2 PHP Bank to the Hadji Mehmet's account.
The menu can be seen at any Hadji Mehmet's branch, which are now in Union City, CIS, and all over Matbaa. Branches in New Oscland and the Corporation are also being discussed.

Matbaa severs ties with Middle Korea

Due to events in Hansai, the Middle Korean capital, the Zatriarchate of Matbaa and Middle Korea have cut all ties. This is because of the minister, King Tiger, seizing command and deposing St. Fenix. An embassy for the government in exile has been made in Matbaa City's diplomatic quarter, and since the Middle Korean government now has no more MCS land they cannot pose a threat to Matbaa. Although St Fenix is now a member of the peoples' republic of Kampong, he is still the legitamate dictator of Middle Korea in the eyes of the Matbaic Government.
